Nice Train station and Hotel Villa Victoria

We will be spending 4 days in Nice in October, arriving from Paris on the TGV (train). We will be staying at Villa Victoria Hotel. I would appreciate information on best way to get from train station to hotel on a Sunday . Also any comments on Hotel Villa Victoria would be appreciated. Hotel is on Blvd. Victor Hugo. Is that area considered %26quot;Old City%26quot;? Thanks

Bd. Victor Hugo is New Town. Your hotel is at walking distance from the train station. The distance is approx half a mile/ten minutes. Theres a good city map at www.plan-nice.org Here, you can click your way to the sites youre interested in, then seeing their locations.

Thank you NiklasB. I appreciate your help.

Your hotel is at walkable distance from the shopping street (rue jean Médecin) and you can walk to the Old Town but is probably a good ½ hour (when you know where you are going). You can take the bus on Jean Médecin towards the promenade and get down at the bus terminus. From there you walk to the Old Town and the Promenade des Anglais.

for info on VV you could look at the hotel reviews on TA . I stayed there last year and really enjoyed it . Lovely garden and handy for the sites , decent sized room .

We have just returned from staying in Villa Victoria last week. We really enjoyed our stay - staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn%26#39;t have breakfast at the hotel so I can%26#39;t comment on that. Room was a good size and comfortable. Train station was a maximum of 10 minutes walk to the hotel. Take Avenue Auber (across the road from the station) and this will bring down to Blvd. Victor Hugo. When you reach Blvd. Victor Hugo turn left and the hotel is 50 metres on your right. Get a map of the city from the tourist information outside the train station (to the left of the main entrance). We found a lovely bakery 2 minutes from the hotel. Turn left out of the hotel and take first street on your left (Rue Dalpozzo), bakery is 100 metres down on the left (on corner of Rue de la Buffa). The Promenade is 7 minutes walk from the hotel, also lots of Restaurants and shops in this area. The Old City is 20 minutes walk from the hotel - when you reach the Promenade turn left and continue along the Prom until you reach Opera Plage (all of the beaches are named), across the road from Opera Plage will bring you to the Old City.
