Well, since you are in London, you will know that with only 3 days, you can really just scratch the surface. Same with Paris or any other large city.
Not knowing in what you%26#39;re particularly interested, I suggest you read the 3-day itinerary from Fodors.

Next to that, you can click %26#39;Attractions%26#39; here on TA and pick the ones you%26#39;d really like to see.

depends on what you like...
for me, I would go to Notre Dame %26amp; St. Chappelle. Wander around the Ile St. Louis. Go up to Montmarte. Probably go to the Musee D%26#39;Orsay and then if time the Louvre. Be warned though, the Louvre is even bigger than you imagine. On such a short trip it would be prudent to look at their floorplan online before you go and find the areas you really want to see. Otherwise you will be lost and they will feed you to the basement boogeyman. You can see the Eiffel Tower if you%26#39;re interested but the lines are long later in the day.
that probably sounds like what your book said... eep! maybe some others have better suggestions.

First, I would NOT go to any time-consuming sights like the top of the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre. I might not go to any museums unless there%26#39;s something in particular you really are interested in seeing (for a Napoleon buff like me, it would be the Musee d%26#39;Armee). Nothing against culture, but on a tight schedule I%26#39;d concentrate on the city itself. I%26#39;d try to spend some time walking through a number of neighborhoods to get a feel for the different parts of the city, like (1) Ile de la Cite and Ile St. Louis, including Notre Dame and Ste. Chappelle (preferably on a sunny day to better appreciate the stained glass); (2) Latin Quarter and St. Germain; (3) Montmartre; (4) Champs Elysees (lacks charm but an impressive view); (5) Marais/Bastille; the list goes on. Get a guidebook and read up on the different neighborhoods to see what sounds appealing to you. Then find a convenient Metro station on your map, get there, get out and start exploring. And don%26#39;t overschedule. If you%26#39;re enjoying yourself in a particular area, stay as long as you want and don%26#39;t feel as if you need to move on.
