Nice airport transport to V-S-Mer

We are 4 adults(60+) staying for 1 week starting Sep 10th 2005 in an apartment on Promenades des Marinieres in V-S-Mer. We will have to go to the rental office to collect key etc from the comany - frenchvillaonline.com. What is the best mode of transport to get there(%26amp; back) from Nice airport with only two suitcases(with wheels).

Best regards Peter Rickard

I live in Villefranche part of the time and often travel from the airport. The simplest way is to get the bus from the airport to Nice bus station (Gare Routier) and then another bus to Villefranche. There are frequent services on both routes until about 8.00 PM. The transfer in the bus station is very simple. You get the bus that is going to Menton, No 10. The only slight complication is that you need to know where to get off. For this ask the driver or other passengers. From the bus stop in Villefranche it is a five minute downhill walk to the Promenade. The total cost of this route is the 4 euros that you pay the driver of the bus at the airport for a one day pass.

There are other ways of doing the trip but we rent our flat to British holidaymakers and the system described about is the one that seems to cause them least difficulty.

I think LondonBob means bus No 100. For schedules go to

Sorry, I am a lousy typist. 100 it is.

An alternative is to take the train from Nice St Augustin station. You can take the car park shuttle bus (free) at the airport %26amp; get off at Arenas. From there it is a 5 min walk to the station. Check train times on www.sncf.com to see if the train is convenient. If not, take the bus. Sometimes there is a direct train to Villefranche. Sometimes you have to change in Nice. At Villefranche exit through the underpass and you%26#39;re on the promenade des Marinires, but I don%26#39;t know where the office is.

Last week I used Nice St Augustin Station for the first time. It is only about a ten minute walk from Terminal 1 of the airport. However, on my journey to Villefranche the train was one hour late and on the return 20 minutes late. I often use this train between Villefranche and Nice and long delays are not common but could be critical if you are catching a flight. This train is particularly useful if you arrive at the airport after 8.30pm, the time of the last bus to Nice.

The train fare is 2.20 euros, rather better than the 50 euros it will cost by taxi.

You have shuttles too, either private or shared. Shared is cheaper and at that time of the year, you won%26#39;t share with anyone. Good point: they speak English and drive you to the door.

What are the names of the shuttles? Interested in going to Villefranche in a year or so and starting research, probably not a good idea to rent a car in Nice to drive around then. Sounds like alot of traffice.

I%26#39;m sure the train is alot better to get around to visit other cities?

Thank you

The Company%26#39;s name is ATS shuttles. Follow the link I gave earlier. I use their services every time I go to Nice and I have always like their services. They are efficient and very convenient since they drive you to and from your door (I use them for return trips to the airport)
