Where to stay?!

This is mine and my husbands first trip to Europe. I have booked all of our hotels except Paris!

We are having a hard time choosing which area to stay in. I have been searching TA for 3 days and still haven%26#39;t found a good answer. We are on a middle-of-the-road budget, going the week before Christmas and want to be in an area that is close to attractions, but also gives us a taste of local flavor. We are in our 20%26#39;s but aren%26#39;t big nightlife people.

Please help!

I tend to default to the 4th, 5th and 6th arrondisment when this question comes up. See if you can find something in the Marais or on Ile St. Louis/Ile de la Cite in the 4th, in the latin quarter in the 5th or near St. Germain des Pres in the 6th. All of these areas are wonderful. They%26#39;re central to everything and very walkable. There%26#39;s always some form of %26quot;night life%26quot; happening in central Paris but the usual kind is the sidewalk/cafe/strolling kind which has it%26#39;s own unique quality in this city.

In the 6th with mid-range budget, you have the Hotel rive Gauche, very well located near metro stop Saint Germain des Pres, in rue des Saint Peres. Hotel is very clean and the area is very safe. You can have a drink in the famous Cafe de Flore, just near the Hotel.

Staff was freidnly when we stayed there...

Have a nice trip in France! and in Europe!

I%26#39;d pick the 6th- with a convenient Metro stop. You will love it.

I would say if you are in your 20%26#39;s then the 5th district will have a lot to offer, as it is the student area, and therefore the prices tend to be more moderate than in the rest of Paris, also it has a lot of things like bars etc...Don%26#39;t miss the rue Mouffetard if you want to see parisians buying fruits on the market

Thank you everyone for your advice!
