Hi,
This group has a lot of experts so I wanted to ask for help in finding out where to buy tickets(online if possible) for the Versailles Fetes De Nuit. We will be in Paris from September 3rd to 9th, and from the Versailles website i got conflicting info..one comment says there is a show on the 8th Sept, other says its every sat/sun in September.
Could someone please help?My wife has seen this before and says its not be missed.
Merci!

The official website
http://www.chateauversailles.fr/
says that FĂȘtes de Nuit occurs 21h30pm on Saturday night 3 September and Thursday night 8 September, otherwise no other time September 3-9.
You can get tickets online here:
chateauversailles-spectacles.fr/gabarit_tota…
So the wife says it%26#39;s not to be missed. Please tell more. I%26#39;ve always wondered what the big deal was and how this might be more or less interesting than the daytime version.

Hi All,
We will be in Paris for the first time from Sep 5th to 10th and would very much like to see the Fetes de Nuit. Since we have not seen the palace and the gardens we are wondering if it is practical to do it all in the same day, on Thursday Sept.8 considering that the show starts at 9:30pm and the gardens at approximately 5:30pm. Any suggestions as to how to spend the time whilst waiting for the show to start?
Thank You.
Jean

rjean,
What do you mean by 530pm for the gardens? The gardens are open for meandering until about 530pm.
The chateau and the highlights of the garden could all be done quite easily in the morning + afternoon.
In the early evening, you could walk over to the little town of Versailles (two blocks out the front gate) to forage for a nice dinner and relax somewhere before the 930pm show.

Thank you very much for the info. I meant that access to the gardens were available until 5:30 pm. I left the word %26#39;close%26#39; out. I did not know far away the village or restaurants were. I really appreciate the information. It would help us to plan.

Darth,
Is there is a restaurnant you recommend in Versailles? Thanks again for your advice. We are from New York City and and are very much looking forward to our first Paris visit,

Les Grandes eaux NOCTURNES are only going on till Aug 13.
For les Grandes eaux during the day, you can buy tickets right at the chateau.
Google %26quot;Les Grandes Eaux de Versailles%26quot;.
Most sites are in French but you can translate most pages.

Places to eat dinner in Versailles while waiting for %26quot;les fetes de nuit%26quot;?

Sorry. I can%26#39;t recommend any specific restaurants in Versailles. There%26#39;s quite a few. I%26#39;ve eaten randomly at only a couple different ones for lunch. My only memorable discovery was that the French consider scallopped potatos to be %26quot;legumes%26quot; (vegetables). I was expecting something green.
I recommend getting restaurant names from Frommer%26#39;s, Rick Steves or some other guide.
There%26#39;s a McDonald%26#39;s near the train station... ;-)
One more logistical item: not only do the chateau and gardens kind of close down at 530pm, the public WC%26#39;s on the facility also become inaccessible at 530pm. So plan accordingly. During the daytime, the public WC%26#39;s in the gardens charge money. The public WC%26#39;s in the chateau are free. When the FĂȘtes de Nuit starts later at night, I have no idea what happens. I%26#39;ve never been on the chateau grounds that late.
