Paris "not to be missed"

Restaurants~

Without breaking the bank, what are three restaurants or brasseries not to be missed in Paris.

Shopping~

If you had one day to shop in Paris, which department store (s) offer the best selection of designer women%26#39;s clothing/shoes.

Although, probably considered terribly %26quot;tacky%26quot; in Paris, are there any designer discount stores with great finds, like Century 21 in NYC.

Thanks for your suggestions!

I know a couple of reasonably-priced shops for teens/young women on the order of Express - Promod and Etam. But, if you are looking for a higher level of fashion, sorry, but I don%26#39;t know.

Nola, it is never tacky to save money! LOL

Depends on what you mean by %26quot;Designer%26quot;. The most upscale of department stores in Paris is Le Bon Marche ( http://www.lebonmarche.fr/ ). It is very high end and is a shopping haven away from the throngs of tourists. Otherwise Galleries Lafayette and Printemps are next door to each other. They are gigantic and mobbed with tourists at all times. They do ofter a wide selection of clothing and will have more items that are less upscale than Le Bon Marche.

For high end discount shopping there is a factory outlet mall in the burbs near disney accessible by RER. It is called La Vallee Village ( http://www.lavalleevillage.com/ ) and it has several upscale brands. It feels more like real boutique shopping than Century 21 which has a more dig through the racks feel.

Hi!

Is the outlet in zone 5?

Thanks.

For a really nice place on the left bank that serves the BEST French Lunch for the money! Unbelievable!

BTBF,

La Vallee is in zone 5 but there%26#39;s no train station there. However, here%26#39;s their web site in English which gives you various options for getting there from the train station at Dizzyland or from Paris, etc

Another vote for Le Bon Marche.

As for restaurants/brasseries a few of my favorites are: Au Pied du Cochon, Allard, Brasserie Lipp, Le Procope, Le Train Bleu, and Relais Odeon.

CKandK, there is a station very close to La Vallee Village. It is the Val d%26#39;Europe station on the RER that goes to Disney. All you have to do is walk through the large indoor shopping mall to the other end and exit at the food court. That takes you right into La Vallee Village.

The Brasserie D%26#39;Ile St Louis. If you get a nice afternoon, it%26#39;s very pleasant to sit with a book and have a drink, 50 cl of beer, an read. Then you can have dinner inside or out.
