Lake Annecy Boat Launching

We are planning a holiday to Lake Annecy in July next year and taking our own speedboat. Do you know of the launching and mooring facilities and how to go about pre booking? Thanks.

Hi All,

Hope I can help. We drove down to Annecy last August (04) with an 18ft Bayliner. We had tried pre-booking and there were some rumours that to gain permission to launch you had to write to the mayor. We sent emails but got nothing back. Having nothing set in place we set off anyway complete with boat. When we got there we spoke to the tourist information who explained that they were not aware of any permission needed. We eventually found the (public?) slipway near Sevrier, launched and recovered there nearly every day and had no problems whatsoever. You will need a blue %26quot;ski nautique%26quot; flag flying at all times when skiing. these can be hard to find but we eventually got one from the local chandelry. We were not charged for launching at any time and everyone was friendly. The lake was also very quiet for peak holiday time with very few ski boats on the lake, some of the best skiing Ive ever had! If anyone wiould like more info get me on mattbancroft@msn.com.

Hi Xeno

Thanks for that info - the best yet! What vehicle did you use to launch? Although we have a four wheel drive vehicle usually for launching we are hoping to take our people carrier - more comfortable for travelling with three teenagers and more economical. What do you think?

Hi Ali,

Glad to be of help. We were in a similar situation with 5 adults so took my VW Transporter Van (not quite a van having 1/2 windows and 1/2 seats so more like a people carrier). Launching and recvery was no problem at Sevrier even with a front wheel drive, a very gentle slip way with a small jetty. We couldn%26#39;t quite fit in to the pay and display car park due to the height barrier but there are some %26quot;long%26quot; spaces near the slipway for vehicles with trailers. They did get quite tight at times (especially if you left it until lunch time) but over a 2 week period we always parked the van and trailer there without having to unhitch, and that was August! Your best bet is to fuel the boat up at the petrol station in Sevrier (on the right as you drive down the lake road from Annecy) as there is only one fueling point on the lake and it wasn%26#39;t always open. Drive a little further and you will see McDonalds on the right, if you turn left at the roundaout just BEFORE Mcdonalds you can%26#39;t miss the slipway! There%26#39;s plenty turning / manuvering space.

Its a great place so I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy your holiday!

Let me know if you need any further info.

Just to let you know we have just arrived home from a fantastic fortnight in Annecy. We were able to get a mooring for the boat at Duingt for the two weeks on a pontoon and launched without a problem actually at the southern end of the lake. We started our enquiries at the Sevrier slipway that Xeno told us about and that led us to the town halls in both Sevrier and then Duingt where we booked and paid for the mooring. All extremely easy and straight forward. Launching is free. If anyone wants the benefit of what we know please contact me. We will be going back next year without a doubt! Thanks Xeno for your valuable information.

Excellent Ali! Pleased you had a great holiday. Annecy is a fantastic area with great people and I would recommend it to anyone whether doing water sports, walking, or generally having a lazy break - Xeno.
