I%26#39;m going to arrive Gare du Nord via eurostar next month. I%26#39;m going to start a walking tour of my own in the morning starting at Notre Dame and will probably end late in the afternoon in the vicinity of Pont Neuf (bridge?). In the morning I want to get near Notre-Dame from the station and return to the station from near Pont Neuf. I%26#39;ve been trying to learn the metro and bus system using the RATP website. As I think these are the routes I want to take I want to make sure I%26#39;m understanding this correctly. Could you please confirm for me the following:
1) I can take train (RER B) from Gare du Nord towards Saint-Remy-les Chevreuse to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, and the trains depart Gare du Nord approx. every 6 mins.
2) I can take a bus (#38) from Chatelet located on Avenue Victoria back to Gare du Nord and the buses come by every 6 minutes.
I appreciate your replies. Thanks.

Using the ratp website (english)
1) towards Robinson is also OK. Trip takes 6 minutes. It%26#39;s much more frequent than every 6 minutes.
2) frequency seems to be more like every 9-10 minutes

Yes you can take the RER B from Gare du Nord to Saint Michel and they do come frequently.
The bus 38 will take you to Gare du Nord. The min time between buses is 3 minutes and the max is 8 minutes. However, the bus stop on Avenue Victoria is for the buses that go away from Gare du nord. You need the Chatelet stop on Blvd de Sebastopol to go towards Gare du Nord. It is located on the side of the little garden with the Tour St Jaques in it (gothic tower covered with scaffolding). The ride takes 12 minutes according to the RATP site. Times are based on M-F during the day.
Hope that helps!

One more thing. On the RER platform, Look up and you will see a sign with the names of the stops. The stops that have a light by them will be served by the train coming into the station. Every train stops at all stops within Paris anyway but it%26#39;s a nice way to confirm you are heading in the right direction. This is only for the RER%26#39;s not the metro.
Also, for the RER only, you will need you ticket when you exit to get through the exit turnstile. If you are trying to come up out of the RER right in front of Notre Dame, read the exit signs carefully. There is an exit that comes on the square in front of it. The other exits come up at Place St Michel.
Do be aware of your possesions in Gare du Nord. They have increased the police force there but there is still a bit of pick pocketing going on. They try to hit you when you are going through the turnstiles. Have your ticket out and ready and move quickly through.

Be careful also that the bus ride takes much longer than the RER, also not all the buses 38 go as far as Gare du Nord, quite several of them (i would say sometimes even as many as 1 third of them) terminate in Châtelet and go no further. So i would rely on a bus every ten-twelve minutes.
