cote d'azur in august....nightmare or still lovely?

We are coming to les arcs sur argens in a week and wondering what roads like in the cote d%26#39;azur..will it be a slow crawl every road or still lovely?We are travelling down by road from Calais - any tips good route and how far traffic allows you travel each day- and want find good family camp site with shade and lots to do for two teenage girls pref by beach anywhere in provence. Merci!!

If you drive on highways from Calais, it should be VERY fast. You will encounter traffic in small towns,especially around St-Tropez. Nice may be a problem because of the tramway work but if you refrain from going on Jean-Médecin St., everything should be all right.





Tourist sports are always crowded in August but it%26#39;s the same in all big cities of the world, so why bother? You are on vacation!

We made our trip through this area on some great back roads--from les arc you can reach grimaud, le garde freinet via some small winding roads. Skip the highway and look for the smaller roads and enjoy the views. Have fun.
