can anyone suggest a nice location where we can eat, drink and be merry while enjoying the countryside. Have not done any research , do not speak french, and hope to go in later September!! would love a recommendation for a upscale B%26amp;B that is not terribly pricey, if that exists. We will be ther eone week.

i can recommend you the place to stay at : just click here
tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g1048916-d45…
From this place you can see most of Provence at only one hour drive and only 30 minutes from Avignon.

we stayed in a lovely apartment 30 minutes from avignon called chateau talaud....the owners speak english and run a relaxing upscale B%26amp;B or like us rent one of their 3 places w/ a kitchen...they have a pool and own their own vineyard ...markets are nearby as well as easy day trips to all the sights in provence...enjoy...

i think it may have been your posing on this chateau perviosuly that drew me there. It looks wonderful and the prices are reasonable as well. There are roms as well as apts available. Did you see the apts? the phots do not look as appealing as the rooms, but we will be there 7 days and could use the space...
btw, do you think 7 nights in one area is wise or should we mix it up a bit?? appreciate your help. Aslo which airport is best to arrive at from USA?

charles,
you must really love that hotel. you have recommended it in 12 forums. it did not look that great to me, but perhaps it was the website photos. it did sound lovely.

i hope u are referring to me and to chateau talaud....we stayed for a week in the apartment talaud.....because of the inexpensive price and upscale furnishings including dishware i have been comparing it to every place we stay.... called the owners to ask where they stay in italy cause i wanted to stay in something comparable in tuscany and couldn%26#39;t find anything.....as a matter of fact i saw your name pop up on the cape cod site recently....we are in the process of purchasing a new cottage in eastham for ourselves and to rent out starting next summer....i am hoping to give it the same feel in decor and kitchen comforts, reading material etc as our fav chateau in provence!......we flew in and out of nice and loved the location for driving to the lavender fields, walled villages, wine country...pont du gard and our fav town isle sur la surge....great saturday markets......need to go back to find linens to mix in w/ our cape cod theme back in eastham!!!

yes. seen it, i was referring to yuor posting about Talaud. i think we have a winner.
funny you saw my name on cape cod posting. i am researching 3 vacations concurrently-- provence in sept, wellfleet this august (staying at Blue Heron in Wellfleet) , and tuscany next september. my head is spinning.
it does sound like you may have a rental that i%26#39;d like next year at least!! i look forward to hearing about it. We did not plan in advance this year so are staying in the B%26amp;B rather than a weeks rental.
For Tuscany I want something really nice with 6 bedrooms that are somewhat comparable foor all of us. We are celebrating a big birthday next year and i am dragging 9 of my friends to Italy with me. Dont want any of them staying in the maids quarters if you know what i mean. I cant find anything I like under $7k, so i just may have to accept it. I dont want a lesser space. Too bad the dollar is so weak.
I have looked at so many websites. I think Tuscany Now might be the one i end up with, but there are a few more that i like as well. I just worry because i hear stories of websites for villa rentals and when folks go to the place they rented, the photos do not match up, or the villa does not even exist. So i am hoping a company that has been around awhile, and perhaps has ties to the states, will be a safe bet. this is a full time job though.
wish these posting had spellcheck. i am a terrible typist.

ps to seen it:
heard mixed reviews about Isle sur ...glad you found it enjoyable. Are there small, i.e. protable antiques offered there? I collect vintage corkscrews, sort of. Did you go to other markets in proivence? Are we allowed to discuss Tuscany on this forum?? ( are there forum police?) I would love to hear about that as well. The tuscany forums have little to offer about villas, at least as far as i have seen.

dear aggiepanther...if u want we can speak thru our own e-mails...sounds like we share an interest in vacation spots and antiquing...i can email some pics of the villa in tuscany we stayed at but i am not sure my provence pics were w/ a digital...
