RER in paris

I know this is a stupid question - especially as i used to live there , but never had occasion to use the above . If I want to travel on the RER to a station outside central Paris , do I ask for a return to that station as I would on the SNCF or are all the tickets the same price as they are on the metro so I would just buy 2 at the machine or wherever . Also , is La Vallee within walking distance of the RER at Val D Europe - have heard conflicting reports

The RER system falls into zones in much the same way as the London Underground (the metro stations are all in zones 1 %26amp;2) so journey costs differ depending on start and finish points. (approx 2euro to get to La Défense from Paris, 4 or 5 to get to St Germaine en Laye etc.)

Two options for purchasing - tickets can be bought at the machines in metro or RER stations; you use the %26#39;roller%26#39; to select the fact you want an %26#39;ile de France%26#39; ticket, then the fisrt letter of your destination, then your actual destination etc. To buy a %26#39;return%26#39; simply elect to buy 2 tickets. Payments at these machines can be made with coins or bank cards (altho%26#39; I don%26#39;t know if non French cards work). Alternatively you can go to the ticket window in any RER or metro station and proceed as you would for the SNCF.

Can%26#39;t help with the second part of your question I%26#39;m afraid.

Solicitor, I might have contributed to confusion about walking distance to La Vallee.....by not reading to the bottom of this page!:
