RER and Metro from CDG

I will be arriving in CDG and need to get to my hotel, Hotel Eden Montmarte. I understand it is located very close to the Jules Joffrin metro station. I believe we will be arriving at Terminal 1 and if I understand right we need to take a shuttle to Terminal 2 to get the RER. My plan was to take RER B3 to Gare du Nord then Metro 4 to Marcadet Poissonniers then transfer to Metro 12 to Jules Joffrin. Lots of transfers. Does anyone know of an easier way. Don%26#39;t want to spend a lot of money on cabs but want to avoid too many connections that we can get confused with. Thanks!

I just searched further and found the RATP site which can help you find the best route. It suggested I take a bus to Porte de la Chapelle and the metro to Jules Joffrin. I am just going to my hotel to drop off bags before going to Bayeux by train. I have a eurailpass I will be using that day to go to Bayeux. What type of transportation is my eurailpass good for? Does it cover RER, metro, and buses? Thanks for any help.

Are you SURE that you want to RER %26amp; Metro into Paris and check into your hotel and THEN try to make your way to Gare Saint Lazare for a two(2) hour train trip north to Bayeaux ?? For a proposed %26#39;first day%26#39; itinerary, that%26#39;s more than a bit OVERLY ambitious. At a minimum, it will take you 2 hours to clear formalities at CDG (Immigration %26amp; Customs and collect luggage if you%26#39;ve any checked) and make your way from CDG to your hotel and check-in. In practical terms, you would do better counting on three hours for this. Then another 30 minutrs to Gare Saint Lazare plus a minimum of another 30 minutes to collect tickets, find your train platform and %26#39;wait time%26#39; for the next train to Bayeux....then another two(2) hours travel time to Bayeux. By my rough estimate that would be at least five(5) or six(6) hours minimum between CDG and Bayeux. Assuming that your flight arrived at CDG at 6:00 AM, and everything ran like a Swiss watch, the earliest you get to Bayeux is approx. Noon...after %26#39;..being on the road..%26#39; for 5-6 or more hours. Perhaps you should re-think that %26#39;..plan..%26#39;.

As for your Eurail pass, it will be good for the RER ticket from CDG into Paris and part and parcel of that ticket is also onward travel via Metro to your final destination in Paris--so long as you DO NOT exit the controlled spaces of the Metro stations. As you might guess, your pass will be good for SNCF train travel, within the terms and duration of the pass. It will be good for RER tickets but NOT for ordinary RATP Metro and bus fares within Paris during your stay. For this you will need either tickets (or CARNETS of tickets) or one of the various separate Paris transportation pass products--CARTE ORANGE, PARIS VISITE, MOBILIS passes. Information on all available at the RATP web sitethat you%26#39;ve already discovered for transportation itineraries.

In my last six trips from JFK (New York) to CDG it took me less than 15 minutes each time to clear customs at CDG.

I guess I left out some information! Yes, this would be an overly ambitious day of travel. We are dropping off one bag and a poster at the hotel for them to store for a week. Then we are leaving Paris to tour other destinations until we return to the same hotel a week later for a business meeting. I don%26#39;t want to drag the clothes I need for a business meeting with me through Europe! So I just need to get to the hotel in Paris for this but then will travel to Bayeux to stay the next 2 nights there. I think by the time we get to Bayeux we will definitely be ready to crash!

So my question is - since I will have a eurailpass I am using that day to get to Bayeux I would like to use it to travel into Paris. I assume it would not be good for a bus trip which seemed easier. So I am planning to take the RER and then the Metro to get to the hotel and then to Gare Lazares to catch the the train to Bayeux. It looks easy enough on paper, but I may not be so easy when we get there after an all night flight! But we aren%26#39;t afraid of a challenge.
