Question for MorganB re voyages-sncf.com

Hi MorganB,

I was reading your reply to snef73 in how to use the voyages-sncf website to book train from Paris to Amsterdam. I%26#39;m trying to do the same. You said to be sure to print tickets before entering cc info, but I am not getting that option. I get Receive your ticket free by post or Collect your ticket from an automatic ticket machine. Or I can Pay and collect ticket before 16/8 sur voyages-sncf or from an auto ticket machine. Can you please help??!? Thanks!

I%26#39;m not Morgane, but I%26#39;ve bought tickets online w/SNCF before..

You can only print tickets on your own printer -IF- you buy a discounted fare (ie. Smilys).

For a full-fare ticket (ie. Librys) your choices are:

- pick up at a station or boutique

- receive by post

Technically, to receive in the mail, you must reside in a %26#39;listed%26#39; country. I don%26#39;t know if Bermuda is one of those. The US is not one. However, I just bought tickets for Sept trip, Paris-Rouen, and got them in the mail OK. Do this at your own risk.

Your other choice is to pick up the tickets in Paris. Assuming you are paying online (in advance), you make this choice, then you receive an email from SNCF with a confirmation code.

When you go to ANY train station, or SNCF Boutique/agency, you -must show- this email AND the credit card you bought with (for %26quot;ID%26quot;).

Hope this all helps...

Travelnutty has pretty much answered it. You can only print certain deep discount fares. Sounds like you are not getting one of those low fares.

Since you are in bermuda I would personally not take the risk of mailing tickets. I would select collect from automated ticket maching. You will need to take your booking reference number and the credit card that you used to pay for the tickets to the station with you. You will actually not be able to use the automated machine because it doesnt like foreign credit cards. Go to the ticket window instead. You can pick up your tickets anytime prior to travel in any train station or SNCF boutique in France.

Thanks travelnutty and MorganB, appreciate the help. I%26#39;ll do as you suggest and collect from a ticket window once I am in Paris.

It%26#39;s worth noting that there is sometimes a time-restriction on picking up your tickets. For instance, we lost 175 Euro in 2004 because there was some fine print on the confirmation web page that basically said; %26quot;Tickets must be issued before xx/xx/xx%26quot; or some such thing. We had something like 72 hours to claim the actual SNCF billet. We missed the fine print .

Good point Metromole. Time restrictions only apply if you do not pay for the tickets online. They only concern reservations made without payment at the time of reservation.
