best flea market?

Any suggestions on the best flea markets in Paris? We are not looking for antiques or furniture. What about Porte de Cligancourt?

Howdy!

Well, I can%26#39;t say I have been to all of them....but the one that I DID go to, was fabulous! It was the the Port de Vanves flea market, which is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Lot%26#39;s of small, retro, and intriquing French things! I would classify the goods there as being in the 30 to 100 year old age bracket, and leaning on the kitsch-ie side...But French Kitsch, not U.S.

Take the metro line 13 to Port de Vanves...and have a super fun time!!!!

I will say that Vanves flea market was great. I was told this was a %26quot;small%26quot; market but to me it went on for blocks and blocks. It has lots of interesting stuff and was easy to get to from St. Germain de Pres area. The Clingancourt is supposed to be the big one.

Since I don%26#39;t speak much French...a few words...my tip would be to take a calculator along so they can punch in the numbers to show you how much something costs or you could punch in to show how much you would offer.

I have heard that Porte de Vanves is the flea

market to go to. As such that will be my choice

next month. Porte de Cligancourt is enormous

with blocks to navigate through from the Metro.

Keep your eyes open for signs advertising brochantes or vide greniers. Vide greniers are close to our flea markets and our usually only amateurs. There is a magazine and a web site-which I can%26#39;t find right now-called Aladine which list these all over France. 84 is the number for Paris and you can see if there is anything the weekend-they are always on the weekends-being advertized. Brochantes usually are professionals but sometimes there is a mix. I think Vanves will be your best bet-lots of variety to choose from.

Do they sell clothes at the Flea Markets also? If so, which ones are great for clothing items?

You%26#39;ll find the most clothing at the big flea market an Porte de Montreuil (Metro: Porte de Montreuil). Place d%26#39;Alegre (Metro: Bastille or Ledru Rollin) also is worth checking out for clothes.

All the flea markets are easy to navigate and expensive. We had a great time looking but bought very little. The metro is the way to go. After you leave the metro follow the crowds.

I think the Porte de Vanves flea market is the best.

However, don%26#39;t expect to find the kind of deals that you find in some of the flea markets you might go to in the Northeast U.S.
