silly park question

I thought that I read somewhere that you cannot sit on the grass in some of the parks. Is this true? We are staying at the Hotel Champ du Mars and wonder if we will be able to picnic on the Park Champ du Mars.

You won%26#39;t have a problem!

The problem may be finding a place on a very nice evening when the park can be extremely crowded with all the folks wanting to watch the twinkling Eiffel Tower.

Brilng whatever you need for your picnic including something to sit on.

Thanks CocoChanel. We are very excited to be going to Paris. It is a full moon tonight. We will be seeing the next one in Paris!!!!

The more formal parks can have sections of grass where you can%26#39;t sit. Now what do those little signs say? Something about %26#39;Pelouse.....%26#39; A French speaker will have to remind me.

When there were forbidden sections, there were also sections where sitting on the grass was OK. Easily spotted by the numerous people sitting there. Saw this sort of thing in the Jardins du Luxembourg and the centre of the Place des Vosges. Looks very unusual to us as Aussies...all the people coralled into a designated square.

CkandK, the sign is Pelouse interdite.

Pelouse Ouvert is ok

Pelouse Interdit or Pelouse au Repos is not

(Place des Vosges is a great example of how well these signs are obeyed two of the four patches of grass will be packed and two empty at any one time.)

oops, forgot to feminise my adjectives, many apologies - add an %26#39;e%26#39; where necessary.
