mobility issues

My daughter has some mobility issues and since we%26#39;ll have luggage we planned to take the Air France bus and taxi from CDG to our rental in the 5th. But it%26#39;s just a few blocks from St. Michel RER, and Im thinking that might be a better option. She%26#39;s not in a wheelchair or anything..(back problem from old injury) but will likely be in some pain (or somewhat drugged) from the flight. Im going carryon so I can help her. what should we know?

honestly, if it was me, I%26#39;d budget a few more euros for this and take a taxi door to door. We were pretty frazzled upon arrival.

The RER is generally fine, although a bit dirty and smelly. You%26#39;d need to make sure you take the direct one (stops at Gare du Nord, Les Halles and St Michel, I think) and not the one that stops every 2 minutes. Not obvious, as both leave from the same platform.

I agree with Sparadis that the taxi would be a better bet for hassle-free transfer after a long flight. Especially if you have to lug a load of bags from St Michel to the 5th (busy part of town..) A taxi should set you back around €50 ($60).

If you don%26#39;t want the expense of a taxi, you could take one of the shuttle services like PariShuttle for a bit less. They use passenger vans and will deliver you directly to your door for about 18 euros per person.

If the RER is your choice, you may want to get off the train at Saint Michel/Notre Dame and walk to the north end of the platform (toward the rear of the train) and exit to the surface from there. There are NO STAIRS, only escalators all the way to the street. You%26#39;ll come up directly in front of Notre Dame Cathedral and the first thing you%26#39;ll see is a taxi stand and no queue (no waiting). You%26#39;re just 50 yards from the Latin quarter so the cab ride will be no more expensive (less than 6 EURO).

The best advice has already been given. Take a taxi from the airport and skip the RER if you can.
