Place to stay between Geneva and Dijon

We are driving from the Geneva Airport to Dijon in mid-October after a very long flight %26amp; would like to find a place to stay along the Route - N5 - through St. Claude, Morez, Poligny, etc. A chateaux relatively near the road would be ideal. I can%26#39;t find anything beyond an Ibis in St.Claude. Any ideas? Thanks.

It%26#39;s still in Switzerland, but there is a nice chateau in Divonne, about 20 minutes north of Geneva. If you google chateau de divonne, you%26#39;ll find it. My parents stayed there when I was living in Geneva, although I was never able to stop by. They loved it, but it%26#39;s a little out of my price range (135-250 euros/night). It might be nice, too, after a long flight to not have to go far from Geneva.

On a more economical note, there are many cheap places near Geneva on the French side in Ferney Voltaire. With a car you could stay at some places that are about 60 euros/night, then head up to Dijon the next day.

NOt sure what your plans are, but Besancon is a great visit. I used to live there too, so let me know if you have any questions.

Two places you might look at, both in the Jura/Franche Comte region, lovely scenery. Expensive (very) Le Chateau de Germigney near Port Lesney, which is a little bit north of your route (north of Poligny) the other suggestion is just off N5, SE of Poligny, L%26#39;Hostillerie des Monts de Vaux, also 4* but small family run, mix of old fashioned style and 20th century comfort. Reasonable prices. The sort of place that is generally very good. If you do not know it, this area of France is wonderful; deep valleys and rolling hills, vineyards and forests. It merits exploration.

Another possibility is a Relais de Silence called Domaine de Revermont in a small village called Passenans. (this is SW of Poligny) A very welcoming hotel on the edge of an unspoilt villlage (the cows are walked in to milking twice a day, back and forth, honey coloured houses and turreted small chateaux). The imposing white building is no beauty but the Scmidt family who run it are most pleasant. I have stayed there many times and found it very reliable, though it is not, obviously, a chateau. Good breakfasts!

Thank you both for your fine suggestions. Tomrob, I had checked out both of yours but opted for Moulin Mere Michelle in Arbois. It just looked interesting and I hope my choice was a wise one! I will surely let y%26#39;all know after the trip. We are only one night there, then a night in Dole and on to Dijon, followed by a couple of weeks heading down through Burgundy to Aix-en-Provence, Arles, and Les Baux. We%26#39;ve been to Burgundy before, but each time we discover more and fall in love again!
