A night outside of Paris

Any suggestions for a peaceful and scenic getaway from Paris for 1-2 nights? We%26#39;ll have a car and would like to drive no more than 2-3 hours. We%26#39;re looking for beautiful coutryside, quaint villages, relaxing walks. Would welcome suggestions for towns as well as accomodations. Thanks.

You can try Belgium. My wife and I had the most amazing time in Brugge/Bruges. It was about 2 hours by high speed train, so not sure how far it is by car.

Back in early May, my wife and I stayed at Chateau de Jonvilliers, a B%26amp;B in the little town of Ecrosnes, which is about 20-30 minutes south of Chartres. We stayed 3 nights. Spent one day in the Loire (about a 90 or so minute drive on the motorway, 2 hours or so on the back roads). Another day in Chartres and a few smaller chateaux and towns near the B%26amp;B. Very relaxing, very quaint and scenic just driving among the farms and wandering about the little towns. We LOVED the B%26amp;B, which is run out of an 18th century (mostly) restored farmhouse by Richard and Virginie Thompson. Virginie%26#39;s homemade breakfasts (crepes, various breads, granola, freshly made yogust and james) were amazing. Virginie is also extremely helpful with suggesitons for places to see off the beaten path. We wished that we had allowed an extra day for more exploring.

If you want to visit a nice countryside not to far from Paris (100Km by ùotorway) , you can go to Fontainebleau. The castle is famous and you can go for a walk in one of the nicest french forrest. there are a lot of a little villages all around.

It is on the south east of Paris in about 1h and half from Paris (sometime it is a bit difficult to go out of Paris by car). I give you 2 web sites to help you.

If you go to Fontainebleau don%26#39;t miss the village of Barbizon. Also Chantilly is a very nice place, about 45 minutes north of Paris.
