HELP, need to make a last minute hotel pick.

We had been planning on staying with relatives for the first four days of our 8 day visit to Paris. Relatives are now unwell and can%26#39;t come up to Paris( they are at their summer place down south) .

We now have no hotel for first 4 days, arriving on Aug. 23. We have decided to stay in Paris ( not travle south to see relatives which will take to much travel time and cut our Paris visit to only 4 days) .

I have a few choices, the Hotel des Mines, or Hotel de L%26#39;Avre, or hotel Des Grandes Ecoles.

The l%26#39;avre and Mines hotels are cheaper then the Grandes Ecoles, plus at the Grandes, they have rooms, but have said we would have to %26quot; change rooms%26quot; ( meaning I assume that we will not have the same room each night of a four day stay) .

So, reviews being fairly equal for the hotel l%26#39;Avre and Des Mines, which one would you choose. the prices are comparable, my only concern is that they are 40 to 50 euros cheaper then the Grandes Ecoles, so are they decent? Are the areas comparable?

The Grandes and Des Mines, arre in the 5th. The Avre is in the 15th.

I am traveling with my son( 14) so don%26#39;t want anymore surprises!

Someone please help, I have to make decision tonight or lose rooms!

Can%26#39;t provide any feedback on any of the hotels, but since it is your first four days and then your family will be back, I would pick one of them in the 5th to be closer to all the attractions.

That way you can get more of the highlights done for the first four days without family and then enjoy a more leisurely visit with family and fewer attractions at the end.

I would also skip the time to make the room changes at the Grandes, so I guess my choice would be Des Mines.

You won%26#39;t be spending much time in your room anyhow.

Good luck! Changes can be aggravating, but think about it as an opportunity to have two separate kinds of Parisian experiences during your visit.

Happy travels

I really have no idea about any of the hotels, but in my opinion The Grandes and Des Mines or the Des Mines if you do not want the Grandes simply for location. The 15th is not very central. I think you would be happier in the 5th. Hope this helps some!

Grandes Ecoles rooms do not have TV, as I recall... in case that matters.

Thanks for advise, I have committed and booked the Des Mines. The price was exceptional, and as long as it is clean and in a safe area I will be happy.
