raphy, thanks for replying to my earlier post %26quot;Is my one-day itinerary in Paris doable?%26quot; I%26#39;ve decided to eliminate %26quot;The Village of Montartre%26quot; with Paris Walks from my itinerary and devote my time to those sites near the river Siene. I really would like to walk from the Arc de Triomphe down the Champs-Elysees towards the Louvre. However it sounded as though the Eiffel Tower was within walking distance as well. How far is it, distance and time, to the Eiffel Tower? Would it be possible for me to walk to the Eiffel Tower and have lunch at Altitude 95, provided I can get reservations, and then continue my walk down the Champs-Elysees? I would like to end at Notre-Dame, because if time permits I%26#39;d like to go inside. Also, time permiting, the 1-hour boat trip using the Vedettes du Pont Neuf that you suggested is something I%26#39;d like to do.
Merci beaucoup raphy for your reply.

well i am glad you liked my answer. Soory but i would still eliminate the Altitude 95 as even if you have reservations, it still takes time to wait for the lifts up, and then for the lifts down. Also imagine that the service takes some time and then you will be in for a long time off your sightseeing possibility. I don%26#39;t recall if the service was fast or long or normal, but even if they serve you quickly it will take a good part of your day.
From the Arc de triomphe to the trocadéro square (in front of the eiffel tower) i would say it should take 15 -20 minutes walk one way, so 40 minutes back to the Chaps Elysées (unless you take the line 6 of the métro, in that case it is quicker). From the Arc to Concorde square you should have a 30 minute walk. Walk through the tuileries garden to the Louvre courtyard, then cross Rivoli street to the bottom of the Avenue de l%26#39;Opéra for a view of the Opéra in the distance. Then continue along the river until the Notre Dame cathedral. As i said before, if you still have time after that point (which i believe) take the boat cruise, they depart i think every 30 minutes, and last one hour. Then it will give you an extra option for pictures of the Eiffel tower. Or you can wander around the Latin quarter and take the RER B back to the station. Inthe morning the quickest way is RERB until châtelet, then off to the platform across to RER A direction St Germain Cergy or Poissy

Merci! raphy for your reply. Okay, with your help I think I%26#39;m coming up with a more reasonable itinerary. I%26#39;ve decided to start my walk from Notre-Dame instead. Mainly, because there seems to be no direct route from Gare du Nord to Arc de Triomphe without making a change somewhere along the way and I can get to Notre-Dame directly via RER B. So with that said, this is what I have.
1) Arrive Gare du Nord at 9:28 a.m.
2) From Gare du Nord take RER B to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station. Walk to Notre-Dame.
3) From Notre-Dame walk towards the Louvre and through the Louvre courtyard.
4) From the Louvre courtyard walk through the tuileries garden, through Concorde square and down(up?) the Champs-Elysees towards the Arc de Triomphe. Shouldn%26#39;t I be able to grab a lunch at a sidewalk cafe along the way?
5) From the Arc de Triomphe walk to Trocadero square for a nice view of Eiffel Tower.
6) From Trocadero square I want to get to Vedettes du Pont Neuf for a river cruise. There doesn%26#39;t seem to be a direct route using the metro to get there. Would it be best for me to take a taxi from here? If so, do you know approximately how many euros it would cost? Just so I%26#39;ll know how much euro to get when I arrive.
7) I need to catch the eurostar at 8:34 p.m. for the return trip back to London. I thought I%26#39;d start out about 6:30 p.m. and walk back to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station passing by Sainte Chapelle and return to Gare du Nord.
Let me know what you think.

I thought finishing with Notre dame was better because if you run short of time the RER B is just there to take you back to the station. Finishing at the Eiffel tower would make you end quite far from Gare du Nord, with the connections you didn%26#39;t have to make in the morning, to make in the afternoon. Also i suggested the Vedettes du Pont Neuf as it is near Notre dame, it made sense but it doesn%26#39;t make sense to take this company if you finish at the Eiffel tower. You have another company the Bateaux parisiens at the eiffel tower or the bateaux mouches at Pont de l%26#39;alma 2 euros cheaper. Still it makes more sense to me to start from the ARC.Eiffel tower and then finish in Notre dame.

Merci raphy, I had thought of taking a taxi to Pont Neuf from the Eiffel Tower, however if you think it is best to start at the Arc de Triomphe and end at Notre-Dame I can do that. Taking in mind that this is my first trip to Paris and I won%26#39;t be familiar with Paris%26#39; transportation, what would be the easiest way to get from Gare du Nord to the Arc de Triomphe?

As i said in my earlier post, take the RER B at Gare du NOrd in the direction Sy Rémy les Chevreuse or Robinson and get off at Châtelet les Halles, then switch to the train on the opposite platform RER A direction St Germain Cergy or Poissy and get off at Charles de Gaulle Etoile, the whole trip takes no more than 20 minutes.

Merci beaucoup raphy. My trip won%26#39;t be until Septeber 14th, so I%26#39;ll let you know how it turned out once I return.

Ok!! I hope it will be nice!

Bonjour! raphy, I have another question which hopefully you can help me with. Since my use of the trains will be limited I don%26#39;t want to buy a 1-day pass. I should be able to purchase point-to-point tickets for the trains correct? I%26#39;m not sure what to ask for when I go to the ticket booth. Do I just inform the person in the ticket booth what train I want and where my destination is? (ie. RER A from Chatelet-Les Halles to Charles de Gaulle-Etoile). Merci!
